According to military sources, in Damaturu, the attack was a reprisal to the killing of five terrorists in Malumti village near Buni Gari.
A counter-insurgency expert, in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed, yesterday (Monday), in Maiduguri that the troops also recovered several equipment, including a conqueror Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC).
Intelligence source also told Makama that the troops successfully repelled the attack after a heavy gun battle, forcing the terrorists to withdraw into Sambisa Forest.
He noted that no casualties were recorded by the troops at the location.
“The terrorists are believed to have escaped with their casualties; including those with gunshot wounds,” he said, adding that there were traces of blood along the routes of escape into the forest.
On the state of security in communities, Makama said: “The general security situation in Buni/ Gari and environs has remained normal and under control of the troops and other security agencies.”
