The police force in Nasarawa state has confirmed the kidnapping of the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Lawal.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the public relations officer of the command, confirmed this in a press release on Tuesday in Lafiya, the state capital.
According to the public relations officer, at about 8:45 on Monday night, the police on patrol heard gunshots in Nasarawa-Eggon local government, and then they went there.

He said that when they went there, they found that some unknown gunmen attacked the house of the state Information Commissioner and kidnapped him by force.
The public relations officer of the police force said that police officers have already been deployed to rescue the commissioner.
He also ordered that anyone who has information about the whereabouts of the commissioner should help to rescue him.
Last Saturday, reports from the local government of Nasarawa-Eggon said that some armed men attacked the secondary school of science in the town where they killed one employee.
