The Bauchi State Government has inaugurated the State Council on Nutrition to serve as a policy body for ensuring food and nutrition security for citizens in the state.
Alhaji Auwal Jatau, Deputy Governor of the State while inaugurating the Council on Thursday in Bauchi, said the council would work out modalities of improving nutrition outcomes.
He said the fight against malnutrition requires sustained efforts and collaborations from all stakeholders to ensure that no child falls victim to the preventable tragedy,

“Hence the need to set up the Council to serve as a platform for collective action,” he said
Jatau who is also the chairman of the council, noted that, collective efforts will be crucial in formulating evidence-based strategies, coordinating activities, and driving progress towards achieving the nutrition’s goals
“By laying a strong foundation for the effective implementation of state-wide nutrition interventions, policies, and programs,” he said.
He appreciated USAID, UNICEF and other development partners for their numerous interventions and support towards the overall development of the state.
On her part, Mrs Jennifer Orgle, Assistant Country Director of the CARE International USAD said they are committed to collaborate with the state government on implementation of nutrition policies.
“We as development partners we are ready provide support for robust framework to tackle malnutrition in the state,” she said
Our corresspondent reports that the state council on nutrition is the highest decision making body on food and nutrition to ensure food and nutrition security for all citizens.
The council comprises of the commissioners from relevant ministries Representatives of local government areas, organised private sector , industry to meet on bi-annusl basis
The Deputy Governor, also inaugurated the State Council on Ease of Doing Business and Implementation Committee on the Report of the Transition Technical Committee.
Earlier, Alhaji Saleh Giade, Permanent Secretary Ministry for Budget Economic Planning and Multilateral Coordination explained that the three committees inaugurated are domicile in the ministry.
“The Committee would facilitate management of malnutrition and eradication of poverty and Implementation of the report of the technical committee,” he said.
