Borno Assembly passes N20.6 billion virement to complete ongoing projects

The Borno State House of Assembly has passed an executive bill of N20.6 billion virement to complete projects in the health, education and other sectors of the economy.
Passing the transfer of virement on Thursday, in Maiduguri, the Speaker, Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan, disclosed: “We’ve received an executive bill from His Excellency, Governor Babagana Zulum requesting for the virement of N20.6 billion.”
He stated that the approved transfer of the budgetary provision; was to complete ongoing projects in the critical sectors of health, education and security of life and property.

According to him, the internal and special warrant of N20.6 billion was to fund the Zulum’s uncompleted projects in the state.
The Deputy Speaker, Abdullahi Musa, said that the 28 legislators graciously approved the Governor’s virement request, as the projects to be completed have economic viabilities to boost service deliveries.
Meanwhile, the State’s 2023 budget is N234,8 billion with the Ministry of Finance taking the lion’s share of N30.3 billion, while Education and Works were earmarked N28.6 billion and N25 billion respectively.
