According to Maj-Gen. Gold Chibuisi, the Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai, over 10, 000 repentant terrorists and families surrendered to the Nigerian Army in the last two years of operations in the Northeast.
Unveiling the biometric exercise, yesterday (Sunday), in Maiduguri, the Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, disclosed: “The data processing was scheduled to be conducted in six batches by a certified team of intelligence and ICT experts,” stating that they are of high level of professionals with confidentiality in data-based management.
He, however, noted that; due to a breach in communication, those who were supposed to appear for the biometric exercise, appeared last Friday.
According to him, this led to confusion at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, the venue of the biometric data capture exercise.
He, therefore, assured the public that the chaotic situation is under control, while normalcy has been restored to complete the biometric data capture for the repentant terrorists and their families.
