Borno Gov’t donates N500 million to returnees in Bakasi Camp
Borno State Government has on Friday donated the sum of N500 million cash from the coffers of Borno State Government to voluntary returnees to IDPs in Bakasi Camp.
The state donated 3,701 each of rice, spaghetti and cooking oil from the Northeast development commission.

The governor’s Babagana Umara Zulum visit was in relation to the voluntary return of the IDPs to their ancestral homes due to the return of relative peace across the state, and the resolve of the government to close IDP camps in the state capital.
However, the Governor have distributed food items where each head of household received a token of 100 thousand naira, two bags of 20KG rice, 1 carton of spaghetti and 1 gallon of cooking oil while the women received N50 naira each.
While addressing the IDPs, Zulum emphasized the people’s stressing on their return which is voluntary without any compulsion, while the government had already done its part to fast track the process with all social infrastructures build and reconstructed.

The Bakasi Camp is hosting IDPs from Martai, Mongono, Gwoza and Guzamala, the Governor also appreciated the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari for providing the required leadership to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and North East Development Commission to assist the state government in its recovery efforts.
