Borno N270b captures critical sectors of economy, says Speaker

The Speaker of Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan has said that the N270 billion appropriation bill has captured critical sectors of the economy.
According to him, while there was increased reconstruction and rehabilitation of Boko Haram destroyed public structures during the 12-year insurgency.
Lawan spoke yesterday (Thursday), at his residence in Maiduguri on this year’s budget increase of N1.7 billion, while Governor Babagana Zulum signed it into law for implementation.
He said that the passing and eventual signing of the bill; was based on the high performance of last year’s budget of N268 billion.
“Last year’s budget was rated about 70% in the State’s ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs),” noting that the execution of projects in various sectors improved people’s living conditions by about 60 per cent.
He attributed the budget performances to the execution of projects in the agriculture, education, housing and health sectors.
“This is my 10th time of passing such annual budgets for the signing of Governors into law,” he said, stating that he will continue to maintain the confidence reposed in him.
