Borno targets N20.8 billion IGR, to create jobs for women, youths

The Borno State Government has targeted N20.8 billion internally generated revenues (IGR) to create opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths.
The IGR target is to be met by blocking revenue leakages in the ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) this fiscal year.
In the breakdown of the 2022 Budget, yesterday (Friday), in Maiduguri, the Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Adamu Lawan disclosed: “The execution of budget with transparency will fully revamp the local economy to create more jobs opportunities.
He said the appropriation bill tagged: “Budget of Hope for Post Conflict Stability,” aimed to sustain the gains of development efforts of MDAs.”
According to him, the Budget’s capital and recurrent expenditures stood at N79.3 billion and N69.13 billion respectively to meet the budget performance of 80 percent by end of this year.
Continued; “This budget revolves at the policy thrust of transparency, integrity, and accountability to the people,” stating that the bill is based on the domesticated review chart of accounts of Zulum’s administration.
He added that the implementation of the budget; is also in line with the State’s 25-year Development Plan tagged: “Our Borno our Success,” to raise people’s standards of living.
Lawan, therefore, announced an immediate release of N770 million to offset workers’ three-year leave grants, while N150 million is being disbursed monthly to pay gratuities and pensions of retirees in the state.
