Borno: Troops foil attack on Aulari

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI on Sunday foiled a terror attack on Aulari town in Borno State.
Fighters of the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) had tried to overrun Aulari, located 11km west of Bama.

The troops fought off the attempt causing the insurgents to flee towards Sambisa Forest.
A military officer told newsmen that a NAF Alpha jet scrambled to track them as they retreated.
He said the terrorists were sighted in four moving gun trucks that were bombarded.

“Three were completely destroyed, the other was immobilized. A number of insurgents were neutralized while others were in disarray”, the source said.
It was gathered that the military has embarked on a mopping-up operation in the general area.
