Tada Juthan, Maiduguri
In a significant development for Borno State, the Executive Secretary of the Borno State Geographic Information Service (BOGIS), Engr. Adam Bababe, has announced a substantial compensation package for local farmers.
“A total of over N1.6 billion has been distributed among 742 farmers as part of the land acquisition process for the ambitious Maiduguri Ring Road project.
The unveiling of the compensation scheme took place on Thursday in Maiduguri, where Bababe outlined the future plans for the acquired land.
“Residential, commercial, industrial, recreational, and institutional layouts will be established on 2,000 hectares of land. He stated that the layouts would also be developed on the ring road side.
“These developments are strategically planned alongside the ring road, promising enhanced connectivity and infrastructure growth for the Polo Jiddari, Molai, and Shagari low-cost communities.
“The ring road itself, measuring an impressive 113 kilometres in length, is set to be constructed in phases.
“The initial phase will see the completion of 16.5 kilometres, marking the start of a new era of development and prosperity for the region.
He added that the project not only signifies a leap forward in urban planning but also demonstrates the government’s commitment to equitable compensation and support for its agricultural community.
