Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has distributed 18 patrol vehicles to the police and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to overcome security challenges in the state.
Governor Mai Mala Buni stated this while distributing the vehicles on Friday in Damaturu.
Buni, represented by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, said that the police and agency’s working vehicles would ensure swift response to the security threats in communities.
“Today’s distribution initiative marks another milestone in the state government’s commitment to protecting people’s lives and property across the state, including the border communities with Niger.
Highlighting the significance of security agencies, the governor expressed appreciation for their joint efforts in protecting the state against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and the abuse of and trafficking of drugs in the state.
He therefore directed Brig-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), the special adviser to the governor on security matters, to allocate 14 patrol vehicles to the police, while the remaining four are for the NDLEA for its operations in the state.
The governor also urged the agency to redouble efforts in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in and across the border communities with Niger.
