Buni Elected Chairman of Lake Chad Basin Governors’ Forum
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Lake Chad Basin Governors’ Forum.
Buni emerged as chairman during an extraordinary session of the forum held on Friday in Maiduguri, where regional leaders convened under the theme: “Rebuilding the Lake Chad Basin: Consolidating Gains, Commitment to Peace, Cross-Border Cooperation, Security, and Sustainable Development for a Resilient Community.”
In his acceptance speech, Buni expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him and pledged to lead with dedication. He commended President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to peace, security, and regional development.
He emphasized the importance of effective implementation of resolutions from the meeting and called for stronger partnerships, resource mobilization, and collaborative efforts to drive sustainable socio-economic growth in the region.
Buni also lauded the outgoing Chairperson, Governor Ildjima Abdraman of Hadjer Lamis Province, Chad, for his leadership and thanked participants for their support.
