Buni inaugurates publicity, logistics committees for 2023 population, housing census

The Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has inaugurated the publicity and logistics committees for the 2023 population and housing census in the state.
The May 3-5, 2023 Census, was to provide the country; with an accurate, reliable and acceptable demographic data.
According to him, the generated data for the census are to be employed for national budgeting and development plans in the various sectors of the economy.

Inaugurating the two committees, on Friday in Damaturu, the Governor, represented by Secretary to the State Government, Baba Mallam Wali, disclosed: “The Publicity and Logistic committees have become imperative comprising people of vast experience in their fields of endeavours for a successful 2023 population and housing census.”
He, therefore, assured the commitments of the State Government to support the Committees’ members comprising the State NPC, Yobe State Ministry of Information, the State Television and Radio stations, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Sunshine FM and leaders of other Unions.
The Committee, led by the Commissioner of Information, Mohammed Lamin, has also the Security and Logistic Committee including Brig-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), Mai Aliyu Mohammed, the federal commissioner of NPC and the Director of Local Government Administration to serve as secretary of the committee.
Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTUW) and representatives of the Police, DSS are members of the committee.
“The Census will be the first digital one in the history of the nation,” noting that there is the need for all hands to be on deck for a hitch free head count in the state.
The NPC State Director, Iyawa Madagwa, said the 2023 Census will be the first digital one in the history of the nation, stating that there is need for all hands to be on deck for hitch free conduct of the head counts.
He assured of the commitment of the commission to ensure it is conducted professionally.
