Buni presents N164.1 billion budget for 2022 fiscal year

Yobe state governor Mai Mala Buni has presented a N164.1 billion budget to the State’s House of Assembly for the 2022 fiscal year.
According to him, next year’s budget will consolidate the post-insurgency recovery and economic rejuvenation.

Presenting the appropriation bill yesterday in Damaturu, Buni disclosed that the 2022 budget increased by 17.3% over last year’s budget of N106.9 billion.
While speaking on the budgetary allocations, he said that capital expenditures gulped N72.63 billion, while recurrent ones stood at N91.43 billion.
He added that the sources of financing the 2022 budget of Continuity, Employment and Accelerated Development (CEAD) are contained in the details of the Appropriation and Finance Bills.
He declared that road construction remains an important indices of development upon which the State Government will sustain the progress made in the haulage of goods and services.
He told the legislators that the government will support the Ministry of Budget to collaborate with the State Project Monitoring Committee (SPMC) to ensure timely execution of the projects for value.

In a breakdown of sectoral allocations, Governance took the lion’s share of N56.94 billion, while the works, housing and transport sector was allocated N29.84 billion.
Following the works sector, education took N28.73 billion with water, law and justice sectors were allocated N2.9 billion and N6 billion respectively.
