Former Chief of Army Staff, and Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Amb Tukur Yusuf Buratai has urged Nigerians to be resilient and not to give in to the threats posed by insurgents, terrorists, separatists, kidnappers, and armed robbers.
Buratai, who gave the charge in an exclusive interview with OurNigeria News Magazine, said the goal of these groups is to instil fear and prevent people from going about their daily lives, such as farming, conducting business, or sending their children to school.

According to him, the war against insurgents is a people’s war, not just a military one, and everyone needs to get involved.
The former Army chief urged Nigerians to provide timely and credible intelligence, avoid actions that could disrupt peace, and work towards entrenching peace.
In his words, “Instead of meaningless and constant criticism that could hurt the morale of the troops and their commanders, I would encourage the local population to support the military with credible and timely information and through their prayers.”
“We should also be aware of the activities of those in our community,” he added.
Buratai urged the military to avoid distractions and stay focused on their mission, adding that collaboration and coordination with other relevant agencies are also crucial.
