By Lawrence Bilal Audu
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has paid a working visit to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base in Bauchi, where he inspected ongoing infrastructural developments aimed at transforming the NAF for greater agility and resilience.
During his visit, Air Marshal Abubakar interacted with NAF personnel, addressing their concerns and offering practical solutions to enhance operational efficiency. He commended the significant progress made at NAF Base Bauchi, particularly in enhancing personnel welfare and providing a conducive working environment.
The CAS emphasized the importance of maintaining a highly motivated and focused force, citing welfare and infrastructural renewal as top priorities. “Our ability to meet national security challenges depends on maintaining a highly motivated and focused force,” he stated.
Air Marshal Abubakar also highlighted the need for continuous improvement in maintaining air assets. He noted that a solid maintenance culture is essential for sustaining air operations in all environments.
A key aspect of the visit was the assessment of facilities at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University’s (ATBU) Centre for Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development (CSTED). This evaluation was conducted alongside the university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Sani Usman Kunya, and other key staff. The strategic partnership with ATBU aims to optimize technical human capacity development and Research and Development (R&D) for the NAF.
This collaboration aligns with the CAS Command Philosophy’s focus on deliberate training, mission-oriented force development, and optimization of R&D. By prioritizing these areas, the NAF seeks to enhance its capabilities and effectively meet Nigeria’s national security demands.
