The Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has emphasized the crucial need for members of the armed forces to embrace changes in the character of warfare to sustain the successes achieved in various theatres of operation.
Air Marshal Abubakar made the call in a virtual Operations Briefing Monday in Abuja.
Quoting the renowned air power theorist, General Guilio Douhet, the CAS stressed, “Victory smiles upon those who anticipate the changes in the character of war, not upon those who wait to adapt themselves after the change occurs.” He highlighted the necessity for proactive adaptation in the face of evolving warfare dynamics.
Addressing the assembled Air Component Commanders and Air Officers Commanding, Air Marshal Abubakar acknowledged the ongoing operational challenges while emphasizing the importance of staying ahead of the enemy’s strategies. He stated, “Despite the operational challenges we face, we are making good progress. We must, however, be aware that as we progress, the enemy will also try to adapt to evade our strategy. So, in keeping them on their toes, we must continue to think ahead and anticipate their next move.”
Furthermore, the CAS underscored the imperative for operational commanders to foster a culture of discipline, integrity, and vigilance in the face of emerging threats. He urged all members to remain ever vigilant and committed to maintaining a high standard of operational readiness.
