CDS General Musa Orders Troops to Eradicate Boko Haram, ISWAP from Northeast
The Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has directed troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) to intensify efforts to eliminate the remaining Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Sambisa Forest and the Lake Chad region.
This mission, he emphasized, is essential to restoring peace in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states.
Addressing troops at the 212 Battalion parade ground, Maimalari Cantonment, in Maiduguri on Thursday, General Musa praised their dedication, particularly in responding to recent flood disasters and rescuing trapped residents in affected communities. He assured that preventive measures would be implemented to protect lives and property from future occurrences.
“The fight against insurgency and other criminalities must continue until peace and stability return to the region,” General Musa stated. He also reassured troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces’ commitment to their welfare and urged them not to neglect their families during these challenging times.
General Musa was accompanied by other Service Chiefs, including Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar. The CDS also received a briefing from the Theatre Commander of OPHK, Maj-Gen Waidi Shuaibu, during his visit to inspect the troops’ efforts in flood relief operations.
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State commended the troops for their swift response in rescuing flood victims and providing essential support such as shelter and food. He further noted that night patrols would soon begin to ensure the complete restoration of peace and security in the region.
The CDS reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to supporting the state government in overcoming both natural disasters and security challenges, pledging to rebuild Maiduguri and restore livelihoods across the state.
