CDS Orders Investigation into Tragic Attack on Military Personnel in Delta Community
In a devastating turn of events, military personnel on a peacekeeping mission to Okuoma community in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State were surrounded and killed by community youths on Thursday, March 14, 2024. The troops from the 181 Amphibious Battalion had responded to a distress call following a communal crisis between the Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta State.
Tragically, the reinforcement team led by the Commanding Officer faced a similar fate and was also attacked. The casualties included the Commanding Officer, two Majors, one Captain, and 12 soldiers in total.

Reacting promptly to the incident, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has ordered an immediate investigation and the arrest of those responsible for this heinous crime. The Delta State Government has been informed of the situation.
Defence spokesman, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau in a statement said, despite this setback, the military remains resolute and dedicated to its mission of upholding peace and security in the country.
He noted that several arrests have already been made, and efforts are underway to uncover the motives behind the attack. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses he assured.
