CITAD trains 25 Bauchi women in digital skills
The Center for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has begun the training of 25 women in digital upskill and mentoring in Bauchi State.
Its Executive Director, Mr Yunusa Yau, who inaugurated the two-day exercise on Monday in Bauchi, said the participants would be exposed to digital leadership analysis.
Represented by Zainab Aminu, Gender/Technical Officer, CITAD, Yau said that there was still wide gap with regards to women occupying leadership roles in the country.

According to Yau, the exercise will mentor young professional women to speak about policy issues in digital space and groom them to be activists in advocating for policies towards addressing gender divide in the country.
This, he said, would increase the country’s capacity to run its own training programmes through train the trainers in the field of digitalisation, to build a critical mass of women and girls with relevant skills for future jobs,
“While preparing them to leverage the information economy and increasing digital demand, and enhance their advocacy skills to promote acceptance of gender policy.
“This is a leadership training that aims to mentor women on how to advocate for policies and policy changes as well as how they can advocate for gender inclusion in information policies and also train other youths on skills that encourage policy changes.
“The training has many topics that span through policy processes, advocacy strategies and awareness methods that the women can use to strengthen their advocacy,” he said.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of Bloom Innovations, Mrs Hannah Karban stressed the need for the training of women in digital skills to enable them to drive policies that would empower them.
She commended the gesture, adding that it would help women to breach digital gaps in gender issues and promote policy advancement in the society.
