COAS Commends NAOWA’s Role in Promoting Unity and Charity
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has commended the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) for its exceptional efforts in maintaining the home front while their spouses are away on military duties.
The COAS gave the commendation on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, while hosting the President of NAOWA, Mrs. Mernan Oluyede, and executive members of the association, who paid a courtesy visit to him at the Army Headquarters Conference Room in Abuja.
General Oluyede praised NAOWA’s role in promoting unity and charity within the Nigerian Army community and beyond. He emphasized the importance of harmonious working relations among all members, urging the new leadership to build on existing foundations of unity and an all-encompassing association.
The COAS also commended NAOWA’s support to Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja during the difficult period following the passing of the late COAS, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja. He urged them to strengthen the bond and continue their good work.
In her remarks, President NAOWA, Mrs. Mernan Oluyede, congratulated the COAS on his confirmation as the 24th Chief of Army Staff. She acknowledged the Nigerian Army’s role in NAOWA’s successes and outlined her vision for the association, which focuses on uniting the association while building on the legacies of her predecessors.
Mrs. Oluyede unveiled her mission statement, “Enhancing humanity through a steadfast commitment to unity, service, and preservation of enduring legacies.” She emphasized that the organization will continue to foster bonds among members, focus on its mission through dedicated humanitarian initiatives, and provide unwavering support for military families.
The President NAOWA stated that the organization inspires quality living standards for its members, ensures measurable growth in community impact, and creates a legacy of empowerment and service for generations to come. She requested continuous support from the Nigerian Army to achieve NAOWA’s aims and objectives, emphasizing the association’s commitment to the Nigerian Army and praying for sustained security and stability at the home front and the nation in general.
