COAS Yahaya bags meritorious Award, clinches $1000 prize

Northeast Star Magazine has honoured the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-General Faruk Yahaya with the prestigious Collin Powell’s Meritorious Award for Soldiering (CPMAS).
According to the Management of the Magazine, the award was presented to the COAS because of his outstanding ongoing fight against insurgents and other Terrorism activities in the country.

Brigadier-General A.M. Garba received the award on behalf of the Army Chief on Thursday (last week) in Yola, Adamawa State.

Recall that Lt-Gen Yahaya was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari on May 27 to replace Lt-Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, who died in an air crash alongside 10 other officers, on May 21, while on an official trip to Kaduna State.
Until his appointment as the COAS, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya was the Theatre Commander Operation HADIN KAI, responsible for Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency operations in North East Nigeria.
