Commission postpones local council election primaries in Yobe

Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC) has postponed the political parties’ primaries for the council elections in 17 Local Government Areas.
The primaries’ postponement was announced in a September 14, 2023 letter, signed by Commission’s Executive Chairman, Dr. Mamman Mohammed and released, yesterday (Friday) to journalists in Damaturu.

According to him, the letter of postponement titled; “Reschedule of Party Primaries,” reads: “I wish to officially notify you that party primaries formally slated for September 15, 2023, has been postponed indefinitely.”
The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in the state had lasts month urged the Commission to extend the council elections to November this year.
Members of the Council had attributed the extension of council elections to enable the electorate participate in electing their leaders, after farmers’ crop harvests in October.
