Commissioner disburses N60.51m to families of fallen policemen

The Borno state police commissioner, Mohammed Yusufu has disbursed N60.51 million to families of policemen that died in active service of protecting people’s life and property.
According to him, the payments are under the group life assurance and personal accident of the IGP welfare insurance scheme.
Yusufu, represented by Deputy Commissioner of police (finance and administration), A.M Bello disclosed:
“The beneficiaries of the IGP welfare scheme comprise 34 next of kins and families of police officers who died, while in active service in the state.”
Additionally, Bello said that it is a scheme for the police officers, who sustained injuries while discharging their duties to protect people’s life and property.
He, therefore, appreciated IGP for the welfare, and urged family members to make good use of the insurance and accident scheme.
Jagila Bitrus, a beneficiary and mother of two children, thanked the IGP and management of the police command for the insurance and accident scheme.
