The Yobe State Police Commissioner, Ahmed Garba, has assured residents of a hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebration in the state.
According to him, comprehensive security measures have been adopted to ensure an enjoyable festive season.
Ahmed gave the assurances over the weekend at the end-of-year conference held in Damaturu, the state capital.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitments in protecting people’s lives and property in the state, including the border communities with Niger.
Ahmad said that strategic deployment of personnel has been made to churches and other places of worship.
Besides securing places of worship, he added that recreational centres and playgrounds are guaranteed to have a hitch-free celebration of residents.
The Commissioner, therefore, warned individuals with criminal intentions to desist, as adequate preparations were made to arrest and prosecute them in courts.
Ahmad also urged parents and community leaders to caution their children and wards against violence and other disruptive behaviours during the festivities.
The commissioner called on public members to cooperate with the security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities in their communities. “If you see something, say something for prompt action,” he said.
