Davido pauses concert, pays tribute to Wizkid’s mum

Famous Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke who is popularly known as Davido stopped midway into his Afronation performance in Detroit, USA on Sunday, to pay tribute to Wizkid’s late mother.
Recall that the Grammy star, Wizkid whose real name is Ayodeji Balogun lost his mother Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun to the cold hands of death at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Friday the 18th of August, 2023, as confirmed by Sunday Are, Wizkid’s manager.
“Yes, she passed away this morning, around 1:30 am,” said Sunday Aaare.
Fans and colleagues of the award-winning artist has paid tribute to his late mom at their performances while others have made condolence messages on their social media pages.

While condoling with Wizkid, Davido noted that grief is something familiar to him because he had lost his mother, Mrs. Veronica Adeleke.
He noted that Wizkid had the opportunity to make his mother proud with his achievements in the music industry before she passed.
While speaking to the fans, he said,
“Personally, I have lost so many people in my life. And I want to send condolences to my brother, Ayo Balogun Wizkid. To his mother, may her soul rest in peace.
“I lost my mother myself years ago. But I know whatever he [Wizkid] has done, he has made his mother proud.”
The late Mrs Balogun was also the mother of two other children, Yetunde Balogun and Lade Balogun.
Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy like-wise paid tribute to the mother of his colleague, Wizkid.
Burna Boy made a very special tribute to his colleague’s mother after pausing his set at the Afronation Fest in Detroit, United States, to pay tribute to the late Mrs. Balogun.
He commanded the crowd to observe a minute silence for the late mother of the Starboy boss, before proceeding to sing a line from his collaborative song with Wizkid, ‘Ginger.’
