The Acting Commander, Guards Brigade of the the Nigerian Army, Colonel Adebisi Olusegun Onasanya has stressed that no part of the Brigade’s areas of responsibility must never be allowed to turn into a haven for criminals and those who fund them who will stop at nothing to wreak havoc.
He made the remarks on Tuesday while flagging off Exercise Peace 2023 at the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory as part of efforts to ensure adequate security of the Federal Capital Territory and to safeguard law-abiding citizens throughout the holiday season and beyond.
The goal of the exercise is to guarantee the protection and safety of law-abiding citizens residing in the Federal Capital Territory and its surroundings over the holiday season and beyond.
The Commander emphasized the need for the federal Capital Territory to be safe, secure, and well-defended against any criminal organizations, saying that anyone caught engaging in criminal activity inside the Brigade’s area of duty would face a ruthless response.
In order to make sure that the Kuje Area Council and other areas of the Federal Capital Territory are not only safe, but also protected against all sorts of criminality, Col. Onasanya advised the troops to remain determined, focused, and committed.
He praised the Joint Vigilante task force, the troops under his command, and other sister security agencies for working together effectively.
He further urged them to keep up the good work until Abuja and its surroundings were completely secure, especially the general areas of Kuje, Abaji, and Gwagwalada as well as the nearby interior communities in and around Niger and Kogi state.
The participating troops were drawn from the brigade’s regiments as well as the Nigerian police, national drug law enforcement agencies, immigration, and road safety departments. There were also Brigade Staff officers and Unit Commanders present.
