Edo Governor Begins Construction of First Flyover at Ramat Park
Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has commenced the construction of the state’s first flyover at Ramat Park, Benin City, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and boosting economic activity.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, Okpebholo announced plans to build two additional flyovers at Dawson Road Junction and Sapele Road/Adesuwa Road Junction, also in Benin.
“This project marks the start of a transformative journey for our capital city,” he said, highlighting Ramat Park’s strategic role as a gateway to Benin and other regions. The flyover, he explained, will ease the burden on motorists and commuters navigating the Benin-Auchi and Benin-Asaba expressways.
Okpebholo reiterated his campaign promise to reduce traffic gridlock in the city, adding, “One week into my administration, we are delivering on our commitment to provide the dividends of democracy.”
The 18-month project, awarded to CCECC Nigeria Limited, is expected to significantly enhance transportation and economic opportunities in Edo State. The governor urged the contractor to maintain a swift pace and meet the completion timeline, while appealing to motorists for patience during the construction period.
Okpebholo assured residents that his administration would adhere to all relevant laws in executing the project, emphasizing its importance to the state’s development.
