The North East Development Commission (NEDC), in collaboration with the Lobito Group for Asiwaju, has empowered 560 food and tea vendors across Bauchi State’s 20 local government areas.
At the launch of the program in Bauchi, Alhaji Abdulahi Lanzai, Chairman of the Lobito Group for Asiwaju in the state, highlighted that the initiative aims to boost small businesses and enhance economic activity within the state.
“This empowerment program provides essential items to help local vendors grow their businesses, contributing to the state’s overall economic development,” Lanzai said.
Malam Usman Yau, National Coordinator of Lobito Group for Asiwaju, emphasized that the partnership is focused on grassroots economic development. He detailed the distributed items, which include rice, sugar, cooking oil, flour, and other essentials to assist the vendors.
“Other items like hospital blankets, baby clothes, and wrappers were also provided to support the less privileged in the community,” Yau added.
Yau further noted the NEDC’s ongoing efforts to foster economic growth, humanitarian aid, and peace-building initiatives in the North-East region.
One of the beneficiaries, Aishatu Mohammed, expressed her gratitude for the assistance. “This program came at a crucial time. The items will help me expand my business and better support my family,” she said.
