FG Announces N75,000 Cash Relief for 70 Million Nigerians
The federal government has unveiled plans to distribute N75,000 cash assistance to 70 million Nigerians to mitigate the impact of economic hardship across the country.
In a statement released on Sunday, Hon. Aliyu Audu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, highlighted that this initiative reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to alleviating poverty and improving living conditions.
Audu, who is also the convener of the APC National Stakeholders Forum, commended Tinubu’s administration for its achievements within 19 months in office. He noted that bold economic policies have attracted significant foreign portfolio investments, improved oil production, and bolstered the non-oil sector, resulting in increased fiscal earnings.
The administration’s policies have reportedly strengthened Nigeria’s foreign reserves, which saw a 23% year-on-year increase, amounting to $7.69 billion, due to coordinated efforts between the Central Bank of Nigeria and the federal government.
Audu further stated that state and local governments are experiencing higher federation allocations, enabling them to pay contractors and enhance local development. He also noted improved security measures, which have allowed farmers better access to their fields, leading to falling food prices and anticipated surpluses.
The government’s recent distribution of 255 tractors to farmers is expected to mechanize agriculture and boost productivity nationwide.
Additionally, Audu highlighted the recovery of $52.88 million in looted funds from the United States, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to transparency and fiscal accountability.
He called on APC stakeholders to engage Nigerians and promote Tinubu’s policies ahead of the president’s two-year mark in office on May 29, 2025.
