FG, Plateau State Governments forge agreement to Launch Services at Wase Federal Medical Centre, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Jos

The Federal and Plateau State Governments have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) towards ensuring the smooth commencement of services at the Federal Medical Centre, Wase, and the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Jos.
The MoU was signed on Wednesday at the Federal Ministry of Health in Abuja, with the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Tunji Alausa, representing the Federal Government, and the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, signing for the State.
Dr. Alausa praised Governor Mutfwang for his dedication to delivering effective and affordable healthcare services to the citizens of Plateau State.
He emphasized that the MoU signifies the beginning of improved and affordable healthcare delivery not only in Plateau State but also in neighboring states.
The Minister noted that the Federal Government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is working tirelessly to enhance the health system in the country and curb the “Japa” syndrome.
He highlighted partnerships with state governors, particularly the Lagos State Governor, to train doctors and provide conducive working conditions for them.
On his part,Governor Mutfwang of Plateau state reiterated that the health care of citizens is a priority for his administration.
Mutfwang commended the Health Ministers for their leadership and commitment to the sector.
The Plateau Governor assured that the Federal Medical Centre, Wase, and the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Jos, would be maintained and sustained to ensure quality service delivery.
Mutfwang also emphasized the importance of working with National Assembly members to address the needs of Plateau citizens.
He praised the former Deputy Speaker, Idris Wase, for sponsoring the bill that led to the establishment of these health institutions.
Governor Mutfwang called for intensive training of health practitioners to meet international standards and advocated a reduction in the cost of drugs to make healthcare more affordable for the less privileged.
The former deputy Speaker House of Representatives Idris Wase noted that the establishment of the two health institutions would not only improve health service delivery but also create employment opportunities for the youth.
He commended Governor Mutfwang for providing the land and enabling environment for the take-off of the facilities and assured continued collaboration between the National Assembly and the State Government to provide effective services for the people.
