FG Will Spend 718 Million Naira On Train Security In Abuja
The Federal Executive Council has approved the expenditure of 718 million Naira for the security and monitoring of Abuja’s railways.
At a time when insecurity continues to plague the transport sector across the country, the contract for the security of the Abuja railway station has now been handed over to private companies.
Experts in the field of security have expressed different views on this step, while others believe that the terrorists who plant explosive devices should be dealt with first, before providing security to the railway station.

The Publicity Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Works, Anthony Ogunleye has signed a contract document that will cover the provision of security services for the Abuja railway station, network infrastructure, and electronic devices for up to two years.
The security expert, Capt. Aliyu Umar Babangida thinks that this work that is being done is not enough and there will be problems attached to it because if this work is done in Abuja only, other major cities in the country that are plagued by insecurity, if the federal government did not provide security measures for them there will be a continues escalation of insecurity within the country at large.
“Seeing how the security forces of the country failed to achieve the goal of creating peace, in what way can the private security companies be able to do so?”, he added.
