Foundation provides free treatment to 30,000 patients in Borno
An indigenous NGO, Shuwa Foundation for Health, has provided free medical treatment to no fewer than 30,000 patients in Borno in three months.
Dr Bello Shuwa, founder of the organisation, said this made on Wednesday in Maiduguri while flagging off the last lap of the exercise for 1,000 patients.
Shuwa said that the exercise started three months ago to complement the state Government effort in the health sector that was seriously affected by the insurgency.

“We have visited all the 27 LGAs and reached out to some in border communities in Kirawa and Abadam.
“We call this outreach Governor Babagana Zulum medical outreach to complement his administration’s effort and to give back to the society as proprietors of Shuwa Hospital,” he said.
He said the intervention covered circumcision, distribution of delivery kits to women and surgeries for ailments like hernia, bladder stone and prostate.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke at the event, lauded the intervention by the foundation and urged others to emulate it in complementing governments efforts at all levels.
