The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has promised to crack down on stunt drivers in the FCT, because their activities are illegal and dangerous to society.
FCT Sector Commander Danlami Abdul, who led special operations against stuntmen in the Idu FCT area, said stunt drivers were responsible for the death and disability of road users.
“Their activities will no longer be tolerated”, Mr Abdul said on Sunday, and pledged to deploy a permanent monitoring team to check the unlawful act in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
“The FRSC will not fold its hands and allow any person no matter how highly placed, take laws into his hands.
“We will ensure this is properly checked and further occurrences are averted.”

Idu community leader Saidu Ismael said many people were killed and some injured because of the reckless activities of stunt drivers who normally gathered every Sunday in Idu Road.
Ismael said residents reported the problem to the police, but could not find a solution.
Another community leader, Okorie Kalu, said driving in the area has turned the community into a mall for drug dealers, phone thieves and other criminal activities.
FCT FRSC head of operation Adewale Ameen made assurance that the corps will stop stunt driving in all parts of the area.
It is reported that the operation was carried out jointly with the police.
