The sector commander briefed the dealers on the various road clashes in the state that were attributed to tyre bursts based on Investigation.
“This meeting will also serve as a caution to all of you because the command will work in collaboration with other security agencies in a joint operation to rid Taraba of substandard tyres dealers.
“As dealers in tyres, you are considered stakeholders in road safety in the state and are supposed to key in fully into the command’s activities geared towards making Taraba free of substandard tyres.
“This will translate into reducing the rate of road crashes in the state,’’ she said.
Williams called on the dealers to register an association to enable the command to organise regular meetings and training for the dealers, vulcanises and transport unions for better results.
Mr Livinus Onyekere, the leader of the dealers thanked the sector commander for the opportunity to standardise their business.
“Our major challenge is that we are yet to come under one umbrella body, where we can speak with one voice and check the activities of the dealers and also vulcanises.
He explained that only professionals vulcanisers would be able to know the different pressure gauges for different tyres.
