German trade unions call for integration of Ukrainian refugees.
The confederations of Germany’s trade unions and employers have issued a joint appeal for new procedures to facilitate the integration of Ukrainian refugees into the German workforce.
The German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) and the Confederation of German Employers’ Associations (BDA) made the appeal in a statement on Friday.

They said companies, works councils and staff councils stand ready to play their part in taking in these people, training and educating them and integrating them into the labour market.
The statement underscored the importance of any new procedures being organised in a legally secure and unbureaucratic manner.
“We call on the federal government to create this framework,’’ the federations said.
BDA and DGB condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine “in the strongest terms” and gave their support to the sanctions imposed on Moscow.
“Our respect and support go to the people in Ukraine and those in Russia who are critical of the president’s policies, the political message was clear.
“The Russian government must immediately stop the fight, agree to an immediate ceasefire and prevent any further escalation of the situation.’’
They added that possible diplomatic solutions should also be worked on.
