Gombe Governor to Present N320bn 2025 Budget Amid Major Development Plans

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, is set to present the 2025 budget proposal of N320 billion before the State House of Assembly, following its endorsement by the State Executive Council during its 44th meeting.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting held at the Government House in Gombe, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mijinyawa Ardo Tilde, confirmed the council’s unanimous approval of the proposal, which now awaits legislative scrutiny and passage.
Providing further details, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Salihu Baba Alkali, revealed that the budget presentation is slated for Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
He noted that a comprehensive breakdown of the fiscal plan, including sectoral allocations, will be shared during the presentation.
In a significant move to enhance healthcare delivery, the council approved N1.684 billion for the engagement of consultants to operationalize the Gombe State Medical Supply Company Ltd.
According to Commissioner for Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru, this consultancy will oversee procurement, logistics, and infrastructure for five years, subject to satisfactory performance.
“This initiative is aimed at ensuring a steady supply of quality medical consumables to healthcare facilities across the state,” Dr. Dahiru stated.
The council also reaffirmed its commitment to environmental hygiene by re-engaging Cosmopolitan Cleaners Ltd for N160 million monthly.
Commissioner for Water, Environment, and Forest Resources, Muhammad Saidu Fawu, explained that the cleaning firm will maintain a 191-kilometer stretch of the Gombe metropolitan area, focusing on drainage desilting and refuse management from December 1, 2024, to November 30, 2025.
Fawu urged residents to cooperate by avoiding indiscriminate waste disposal, adding that community sensitization programs are underway to support these efforts.
In the realm of infrastructure, the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, announced an extension of the Kuri-Lambam-Dasa-Talasse Road. Initially contracted for 27 kilometers, the project now includes an additional 1.3 kilometers to connect the Palace of the Kuri District Head.
“The revised contract value now stands at N14.098 billion, with 70% of the construction already completed. The project is on track for completion within the next three months,” Engr. Kallamu disclosed.
Governor Yahaya’s administration continues to prioritize infrastructure, healthcare, and environmental sustainability, underscoring its vision for a more prospekkkl the 2025 budget set to be unveiled, all eyes are on the legislative arm to expedite its passage and facilitate these transformative initiatives.
