Gombe State Acresal Pc Applauds World Bank for Expanding Staff Capacity

The World Bank Task Team has received praise from Amb. Sani Adamu Jauro, the project coordinator for the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes – ACReSAL project in Gombe State, for continuing to enhance the capacity of all the participating States in the 19+ FCT ACReSAL project as well as the Federal Project Management Unit.
Amb. Sani Adamu made the declaration in a statement addressed to the Gombe State ACReSAL Communications Units following the opening ceremony of the four-day capacity development workshop on the Environmental and Social Framework (ESF), which was hosted by the World Bank at the Reiz Continental Hotel in Abuja.
He asserted that the workshop would enhance the capacity of the ACReSAL Staff to carry out their responsibilities by ensuring that the knowledge acquired would be used during the implementation of all the project’s components.

Amb. Sani praised the Federal Project Management Unit, managed by Mr. Abdulhamid Umar, and the World Bank Team, headed by Dr. Joy Agene Iganya, for providing technical help to the states while being optimistic that Gombe State ACReSAL will carry out ACReSAL’s goals.
According to Amb. Sani Adamu, who also notified the Communications department of this, Sanjay Srivastava, the World Bank Practice Manager for Environment, Nature Resources, and Blue Economy, West and Central Africa, spoke virtually and underlined the need of ESF capacity building.
He also mentioned that Reider Kvam and Dan Gibson, Lead Resources Persons from the World Bank, gave participants virtual presentations to help them comprehend the ESF’s values in terms of the environmental and social risks connected to any project that will be carried out with World Bank support, as well as suitable mitigation strategies in that regard.
He claimed that the two keynote presenters provided guidance on how to create a Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP) in order to ensure the success of any World Bank project intervention.
Other highlights of the event, according to the PC, included presentations on gender-based violence, effective communication methods, and guidance for developing and implementing a good security management plan by members of the World Bank’s Nigeria local office.
Participants are expected to have a solid understanding of the ESF concept by the end of the program, enabling them to apply it as a guiding principle when evaluating all projects intended for implementation across the project participating States and the FCT.
The Gombe ACReSAL team, led by Project Coordinator Amb. Sani Adamu Jauro, includes the Environment and Safeguard Officer Shittu Whanda and the Social and Livelihood Officer Ada Daniel Tadi.
