Gombe’s Healthcare Gets Boost: Taskforce Aims to Revitalise the Sector
Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has taken a major step towards revamping the state’s healthcare system by establishing a Taskforce on Health Sector Revitalization.
The Committee, led by Professor Aliyu Usman El-Nafaty, VC of Gombe State University, will work diligently for 30 days to diagnose and address critical issues plaguing the sector.
The task force is comprised of individuals carefully chosen for their proven abilities, loyalty, and integrity.
These experts hail from various fields, including primary healthcare, health insurance, medicine, infrastructure, and administration. Notably, the team includes:
Dr. Abdulrahman Shuaibu (Primary Healthcare) Dr. Abubakar Musa (Go-Health) Dr. Mohammed Garba Buwa (Ministry of Health) and Arc. Yakubu Mamman (Ministry of Works) Mohammed Bappa (Health Services Management Board) and Pharmacist Jalo Ibrahim (Secretary)
Reviewing Workforce Distribution: They will analyse the current state of human resources in the health sector, identifying any imbalances in workforce distribution across different levels of the system.
Bridging the Gap: Immediate recommendations will be formulated to address the existing shortage of healthcare personnel.
Project Evaluation: Ongoing health sector projects will be thoroughly assessed to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
Needs Assessment and Improvement: Key health facilities will be scrutinised to understand their specific needs and potential areas for improvement.
Ultimately, the Taskforce aims to harmonise the health sector’s value chain for better overall outcomes. This involves streamlining processes, optimising resource allocation, and ensuring smooth collaboration between different stakeholders.
Governor Yahaya, expressing his faith in the team’s capabilities, has urged members to dedicate their expertise to improving Gombe’s healthcare system.
He expects a comprehensive report outlining their findings and recommendations within the designated timeframe.
