GONET Applauds Gov. Inuwa Yahaya’s Leadership, Seeks Stronger Partnership at Ramadan Iftar
The Gombe Network of Civil Society Organisations (GONET) has commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his commitment to good governance, transparency, and sustainable development in Gombe State.
Speaking at a Ramadan Iftar hosted by the Governor at the Government House in Gombe, GONET Chairman Ibrahim Yusuf highlighted the organisation’s contributions to governance and development while seeking enhanced collaboration with the state government.
Yusuf underscored GONET’s active involvement in governance, policy advocacy, and community development, aligning with the administration’s objectives for sustainable progress.
“Your Excellency, GONET has remained a strong advocate for citizen engagement in governance, ensuring transparency in the budget process, and pushing for policy reforms that improve education, health, and youth empowerment. Our initiatives have empowered vulnerable populations, strengthened peacebuilding efforts, and advanced the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” Yusuf stated.
He also justified the reason behind the GONET to the governor and the award on leadership and good governance recently is because of the governor’s exceptional leadership and governance.
“People-Centred Policies: The administration’s emphasis on addressing the needs of Gombe residents, transparent budgeting, efforts to engage citizens in financial planning and resource allocation and infrastructure development, investments in roads, healthcare, and education, and others.
While acknowledging the Governor’s support for civil society initiatives, GONET appealed for additional backing to enhance its operations.
“We seek Your Excellency’s assistance in securing a permanent secretariat for GONET, which will serve as a hub for coordinating developmental projects. Additionally, providing mobility support will facilitate our grassroots advocacy and monitoring efforts across the state,” Yusuf requested.
Governor Yahaya, in his response, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with civil society organisations to drive sustainable development.
As Ramadan continues to foster unity and reflection, GONET pledged to remain a key partner in promoting accountability, good governance, and community-driven development in Gombe state.
