Gov. Yahaya presents N207.8 billion budget for 2024 to State Assembly

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, has presented a N207.75 billion budget for 2024 to the State House of Assembly.
According to him, the Appropriation Bill aligns with the economic realities to meet the aspirations of the people in various sectors of the economy.
Presenting the budget on Monday, in Gombe to the Assembly, the Governor, disclosed: “The next year’s budget has a recurrent expenditure of N87.36 billion, while capital expenditures stood at N120.5 billion,” noting that it will focus on socio-economic development, continuity with budget consolidations.

On the funding of budget, he said that the State government intends to earn an Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) of N121.91 with capital receipts of N138.91billion.
He said there would be a projected estimate closing balance of N18.41 billion.
The appropriation bill tagged: “Budget of Continuity, and Consolidation,” was to build on the achievements recorded during his first term in office.
While reviewing the 2023 budget, he said the recurrent revenue performance stood at 85.3 percent, while capital expenditures remained at 52,12 percent by September 2023.
The economic sector, education, health, and internal security took the lion’s share with internal security being allocated N550 million.
He assured that the budget was based on the principles of fiscal responsibility, transparency, and accountability to the people.
Yahaya, therefore, called on the State House of Assembly to scrutinize and pass the budget by providing constructive insights of its implementation for economic growth and development across the state.
