Governor Fintiri Meets New Traditional Rulers, Urges Integrity, Accountability

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State held a landmark meeting with the newly appointed traditional rulers from the state’s recently established Emirates and Chiefdoms. The meeting, hosted at the Government House in Yola, marked the governor’s first formal engagement with the monarchs since their appointment.
Addressing the traditional rulers, Governor Fintiri emphasized the importance of leadership rooted in integrity, fairness, and accountability. He urged them to prioritize inclusivity, steering clear of tribal or religious biases, and to focus on serving their communities diligently.
The governor advised the monarchs to deepen their knowledge of local traditions and governance systems to enhance their effectiveness. He warned against appointing titleholders without adhering to established procedures and conducting thorough security checks, stressing the need to prevent unfit individuals from holding positions of authority.
Highlighting the crucial role of traditional rulers in governance, Governor Fintiri encouraged collaboration with district and village heads to promote transparency. He urged the monarchs to report suspicious activities promptly, aiding security efforts in their domains.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of traditional institutions, recognizing their role in bridging governance gaps and fostering grassroots development. He also called on the rulers to support environmental conservation efforts by enforcing bans on indiscriminate tree felling and promoting alternative energy solutions.

Fufore: 5th February 2025, 10:00 AM
Yungur: 6th February 2025, 10:00 AM
Gombi: 8th February 2025, 10:00 AM
Maiha: 13th February 2025
Hong: 14th February 2025
Madagali: 19th February 2025
Michika: 20th February 2025
Speaking on behalf of the monarchs, HRH Dr. Ali Danburam, the Ptil of Madagali, expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for his visionary leadership in establishing the new Emirates and Chiefdoms. He assured the governor of their commitment to leading with transparency, honesty, and dedication, supporting the state government in its development agenda.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, Secretary to the State Government Barr. Awwal D. Tukur, Chief of Staff Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday, and all newly appointed traditional rulers.
Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to reposition the traditional institution for sustainable development, peace, and security across Adamawa State.
