Governor Zulum Backs Appointment of Chemical Engineer Professor Gutti to Lead BOSU as Vice-Chancellor
The Governing Council of Borno State University (BOSU) has appointed Engr. Professor Babagana Gutti as the institution’s new Vice-Chancellor, effective from October 18, 2024.
The appointment was confirmed by the University Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Zanna M. Kashim, and received the endorsement of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Executive Borno state who serves as the Visitor to the university.
Professor Gutti, an expert in Chemical Engineering and former faculty member at the University of Maiduguri, will serve a non-renewable five-year term. As Vice-Chancellor, he will assume the dual roles of Chief Executive and Chief Accounting Officer of the university, responsible for overseeing all its operations.
In addition to his executive duties, Professor Gutti will chair the University Senate and hold an ex-officio position on the Governing Council, managing the institution’s human, financial, and material resources. He is also tasked with guiding the academic and administrative functions of the university, ensuring the successful implementation of its strategic goals and vision.
The University Registrar, on behalf of the Visitor and the Governing Council, extended congratulations to Professor Gutti on his appointment.
