Group urges Ishaku to contest for Senate in 2023

A group named Southern Taraba Women and Youth Coalition has urged Governor Darius Ishaku to contest for the Southern Taraba senatorial seat, come 2023.
The coalition made the appeal at a ceremony held at the Rescue House in Jalingo, on Sunday.
Speaking while presenting an endorsement letter to the State PDP chairman, a co-convener of the group and member representing Ibi Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mohammed Abdulkarim, said the group discovered that the governor has “an unquenchable spirit of development and love for his people.”

He further said, “The governor has proven to be a good ambassador, hence our decision to ask him to go back home and continue his good work as a senator representing the zone, come 2023.
“We in Southern Taraba have carefully followed the track record of the good works of His Excellency.

“We have seen an unprecedented level of development in the state during his tenure as our governor and so we have resolved as a group to avail him the opportunity to come back and serve us again in the senate after his tenure as the governor of Taraba State in 2023.”
Responding after receiving the letter, State PDP chairman, Col. Agbu Kefas (retd.), said, “This singular action of yours would strengthen our thinking as a party, concerning His Excellency. Normally, a prophet has no respect in his home.

“But for you to come on your own from home to recognize the good work of the Governor, your son, it is something commendable.”
He promised to forward their request to the governor. The event was attended by all political appointees and elected chairmen from the zone.
