Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of the unknown number of members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) along the East-West Road in Rivers State.
The kidnapping of the youths came barely 24 hours after the chairman of Emohua local government area of the state, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, offered a N1million reward on a 22-year-old Onuigwe Wodi, for his involvement in the killing of policemen, cultism, kidnapping and armed robbery along the East-West Road.
Lloyd also announced the withholding of the salaries of operatives of the Emohua Vigilante Service (EMOVIS) who were unable to contain the rise in crime in the local government area.

The youth corps members were returning to Port Harcourt from the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ondo State, when gunmen suspected to be kidnappers hijacked their bus in the Emohua axis of the East-West Road on Tuesday night.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Grace Iringe-Koko, told newsmen in Port Harcourt that some youth corps members who escaped from the attack have been rescued.
Iringe-Koko stated that tactical teams have been deployed to the area to ensure the safe release of the abducted youth corps members.
She, however, did not disclose the number of persons who were rescued as well as the number of persons that were kidnapped.
