INEC suspends voter registration in parts of Imo as unknown gunmen strike

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended its voter registration exercise in some parts of Imo.
The suspension came following an attack by some unknown gunmen in White Uboma LGA, killing one INEC staffer.
According to reliable multiple sources, the unknown gunmen stormed the registration centres, wielding sophisticated weapons and killing an INEC staffer in the process.

One of the sources disclosed that the unknown gunmen made everyone lie flat on the ground while warning that the election wouldn’t take place in the areas.
He said the people including nursing mothers were left for dead as they gasped for air, rolling helplessly on the ground.
The electoral umpire has also suspended voter registration exercises in Orsu and Njaba LGAs respectively, following reports of insecurity in the LGAs.
