Inspiring Inclusion: Women as Pillars of Peace, Progress
The Kalthum Foundation for Peace advocates Gender Equality on International Women’s Day
As the world commemorates International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, the Kalthum Foundation for Peace Maiduguri has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering women as key drivers of peace, progress, and sustainable development.
In a statement signed by Amb. Ummu Khalthum Muhammad Chirpason, of the foundation emphasised that this year’s theme, Inspire Inclusion, aligns with its mission of fostering unity, advocating for gender equality, and amplifying the voices of women in conflict-affected regions.
“Women are not just victims of violence and displacement; they are frontline peacebuilders, community leaders, and architects of a just and equitable society,” the statement read.
The foundation highlighted its ongoing initiatives in education, economic empowerment, psychosocial support, and conflict resolution, particularly in Borno State and beyond. It stressed that women’s inclusion in decision-making processes is fundamental to achieving societal progress and sustainable peace.
As part of the IWD celebration, the Kalthum Foundation called on governments, civil society organisations, and community leaders to prioritise policies that promote women’s participation in governance, security, and economic development.
“It is only through inclusive leadership that we can build a future where every woman and girl has the opportunity to reach her full potential,” the statement emphasised.
The foundation also paid tribute to the resilience and courage of women who continue to break barriers despite societal challenges.
“Your voices matter, your dreams are valid, and your contributions are essential to shaping a peaceful and prosperous world,” the foundation declared.
As the world unites under the banner of #InspireInclusion, the Kalthum Foundation for Peace Maiduguri urged all stakeholders to work towards a society where peace and gender equality are not just aspirations but lived realities for all.
