JAMB Registrar Warns Students Against Examination Malpractices
Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has emphasized that success in academics comes only through hard work, not dishonesty.
He said this when he was evaluating the 2025 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) at the Board’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.
In his speech, Oloyede mentioned that 211,000 candidates from all the states of the country participated in the mock examination. The test aims to help with preparations for the main UTME and provides JAMB an opportunity to try new methods for addressing examination fraud and malpractice.
“We are exploring new methods to address possible violations and enhance the infractions,” he said. He also opted to caution the candidates on some emerging dubious websites that claim to provide assistance for a fee, some for as high as N30,000.
He said, “This nonsense is cheating, and anyone caught perpetrating this will bear the consequences.”
The registrar made it clear how critical personal integrity is, advising contestants against proxy registration or any form of personal detail sharing, as this would attract disqualification.
He promised that the release of the mock examination results would not be delayed and confirmed that the major UTME is scheduled to begin on April 25, 2025.
