Tukur Abdullahi, Kebbi
Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has expressed deep sorrow over the brutal murder of Abdussalam Rabi’u Faskari, a Hafizul Qur’an and final-year medical student at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Abdussalam was tragically killed by bandits after being kidnapped alongside his family members.
In a statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, the governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the Katsina State Government, the bereaved family, and the people of Katsina.
Abdussalam had recently gained national recognition after emerging as the male category winner of the National Qur’an Recitation Competition, hosted by Kebbi State in December 2024. He was later invited and honored by the Katsina State Governor for his outstanding achievement. However, tragedy struck on his return journey when bandits abducted and later killed him and his relatives.
Governor Idris described Abdussalam’s death, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, as a profound loss but emphasized that his legacy would not be in vain. He strongly condemned the heinous act, calling it a stark reminder of the urgent need to bolster security efforts across the country.
The governor prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased, asking for eternal rest in Aljannah Firdausi, while urging the grieving family to find solace in Abdussalam’s impactful life.
The tragic killing has once again underscored the growing security challenges facing the nation, with renewed calls for decisive action against criminal elements threatening the safety of citizens.
