Messi – I’m not retiring from Argentine national team
Lionel Messi crowned himself world champion in Qatar on Sunday in what might have been his last game in the world’s most fantastic national teams competition.
It also might have been his last World Cup, but the Argentinian star said he’s not leaving the national team.
He said, “‘I’m not retiring from the national team. I want to continue playing for Argentina to honour the world champion title.
“This is the title that I was missing, and finally, here it is’, the captain said, chosen MVP of the finals and the whole tournament.
He continued assuring that he wanted to give closure to his career ‘with this, I can’t ask for anything anymore.
But he quickly clarified that this was not a farewell from the ‘Albiceleste’ shirt. ‘I enjoy being in the national team, the group; I want to continue and experience a few games being world champion’, he added.

Messi didn’t shy away from admitting that becoming a world champion was the one dream he had yet to fulfil. ‘It’s anyone’s childhood dream, I was lucky enough to achieve everything else, but this one was missing, and now it’s here’, he said.
The former Barcelona captain finished the World Cup with seven goals and three assists, and he doesn’t forget the excruciating suffering he and his teammates had to endure to beat France in a heart-stopping final.
“It’s crazy; It’s the most beautiful thing there is. It’s lovely; I wished for it so much. I just knew God would give it to me; I felt this was it; this was the time, we suffered a lot, but we made it.”
